The Faculty of History and Philology was established in 1960. In 1996 the Faculty was divided into two independent divisions: the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. We train professionals in the field of linguistics and literary criticism, linguistics and translation studies, journalism, advertising and public relations, psychology and pedagogy. Our faculty is a faculty of creativity, where students regularly participate in competitions and creative activities: students organize Days of Specialties, concerts and theater performances.

International recognition
The Faculty's partners are more than 40 foreign universities in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Linguistics have been internationally accredited by the Spanish agency DEVA-AAC, which is a recognition of the high quality of education at the international level.
Creativity
The Faculty of Philology is a creative faculty, students regularly win prizes and awards of various professional competitions.
Practical orientation
The study is aimed not only at mastering knowledge, but also at gaining practical experience: work in TV and radio studios, translation and teaching practice.
Double degree programs
Joint programs allow students to gain experience of studying abroad and get two diplomas at once: RUDN and a foreign university. The programs are implemented: “Psychology and Pedagogy”, “Russian Language and Literature”, “Russian as a Foreign Language: East and West”, “Digital Media Communications”.
In-demand scientific research
The priority scientific direction of the faculty is “Personality in the context of globalization processes: society, language, information”. The research is interdisciplinary and covers a whole range of problems of humanitarian knowledge. Projects regularly receive grant support from Russian and foreign foundations, students actively participate in international research projects.

The program offers an interdisciplinary approach, combining research on communication patterns with practical skills in new media. Theoretical, Applied and Comparative-Contrastive Linguistics 5.9.8
The postgraduate course “Theoretical, Applied and Comparative-Contrastive Linguistics” focuses on fundamental research in typology, comparative-historical linguistics and applied linguistics. Special attention is paid to the development of competences necessary for the creation of language resources such as text corpora, glossaries, dictionaries, and comparative-historical and typological databases. The educational process takes place in an international academic environment, which fosters the development of skills to work in intercultural and multilingual research teams.
